Corporate Headquarters
in Austin, Texas 

Austin-based headquarters to support sales,
marketing and design center


AUSTIN, Texas, January 7, 2008 — SemiSouth Laboratories, Inc., a leading provider of silicon carbide (SiC) based semiconductor technology, announced today the opening of their new corporate headquarters in Austin, Texas.  Founded on SiC research and development activities initiated at Mississippi State University (MSU), SemiSouth specializes in SiC materials and electrical components for high-power, high-efficiency, harsh-environment power management and conversion applications. 

Austin, the capital of Texas and the 16th largest city in the US, is the home of many high-tech companies.  Known as the “live music capital of the world” with its thriving semiconductor and computer industries is rapidly earning the nickname “the Silicon Hills.”  Austin is the home of the main campus of the University of Texas, the fifth largest university in the US.   And, MSN named Austin the Greenest City in America for it’s commitment to environmentally sustainable living.

The new headquarters provides the office space to support infrastructure and business needs of SemiSouth’s growth over the next 12 months.  SemiSouth plans are to move sales and marketing to Austin immediately and to grow the Austin group by staffing a design center starting in early 2008. The Austin facility will complement the 20,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Starkville, Mississippi.
